1. Introduction
The integrated activity programme for Lifelong Learning (LLP) of the European Union replaced, on 1 January 2007, the well-known and seasoned educational programme "SOKRATES"
The LLP Programme shall continue with this successful and highly-respected tradition of activities. This new generation of programmes comprises measures for the promotion of general and vocational education and is meant to contribute, in this context, to the development of the European Community as an advanced society of knowledge with sustainable economic development, more and better jobs and broader social cohesion.

Individuals
- Education personnel
- Pupils
- People in vocational training or re-training
- Students
- Graduates and people in the labour market
- Adult learners
- Education personnel and vocational training personnel
Institutions eligible to participate
- All facilities, which are engaged in general or vocational education and would like to contribute to the success of the programme goals.
Nations eligible to participate
- 27 EU member nations,
- EFTA/ EWR nations, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway,
- Turkey and, presumably, Switzerland starting 2008.
Composition of the consortium
- At least three independent legal entities from three different countries (third countries do not count as minimum-partners)
- Possible exceptions and special features are defined in the respective work-programmes
4. What is the procedure for funding? – Financing models
The new programme has a duration of seven years (2007 to 2013) and comprises a financial volume of about seven billion Euro.
Depending on the type of project, participants and activity, the following quotas are defined (not valid for SME-specific projects!):
Deployment facility
- Administrative costs (flat-rate amount)
- Preparation costs (flat-rate amount)

- Costs for accommodations, insurance and travel (flat-rate amount)
