The two Managing Directors of the Bayerische Forschungsallianz, Prof. Harun Parlar (right) and Ass. Jur. Professor Harun Parlar, as a professor at the Technical University of Munich in Weihenstephan, continues to have a close link to international research. As the Managing Director of BayFOR, he in particular supports Bavarian universities and their scientists on issues of international networking and the establishment of international scientific networks in order to achieve success in the competition for EU funding for research projects.

The professional career of Professor Parlar has always been characterised by international challenges. The PhD chemist is recognised in the professional world as a scientist honoured with numerous prizes, who, with his many years of experience, holds the distinguished Chair for Chemical-Technical Analysis and Chemical Food-Technology at the Technical University Munich in Freising-Weihenstephan. Martin Reichel

On 1 October 2011, jurist and attorney-at-law Martin Reichel was appointed as a further Managing Director of BayFOR. Together with Professor Harun Parlar, he assists Bavarian universities, research organisations and stakeholders from the private sector (in particular SMEs) in the competition for European research funding. Martin Reichel's role as Managing Director also in particular includes responsibility for strategic development and positioning, finance and HR matters at BayFOR. A further focal point of his role includes the intensive dialogue with the other partners in the "Haus der Forschung”, in order to make their joint service portfolio more visible to the outside world and to make the best possible use of existing synergies.

Short profile

Before joining BayFOR, Reichel worked for eleven years at the Helmholtz Centre Munich, latterly as an authorised signatory and member of the extended management board, as well as head of the Legal & Technology Transfer Department. His career has also enabled him to gain considerable experience in the fields of scientific management and national and international research funding. More
