2.3 - Linkage and process orientated combination of methods and tools

In many cases the use of CAx-simulation methods (CAD, Finite-Element- Analysis, Artificial Intelligence Research Methods, PDM, CAM, CFD, multi- body simulation, injection-molding simulation, milling simulation, forming simulation) in industrial companies is state-of-the-art. Increasing impor- tance gains the combination of different simulation methods and their chronology, because wrong time-phased or bad accomplished simula- tions will massively slow down the construction process. Within this project, from the respective view of the involved persons in the development process (development, design engineering, manufacturing, quality management, EPD, marketing) the different CAx-tools will be ana- lysed and checked for the integration ability into the Process-Navigator (PN). The use of already existing artefacts (CAD-data, FE-computations) is more important than locating data. On the basis of benefit estimations and workflow-schemata company-internal tools should be offered to the users. Support or rather proceedings with the use of simulation tools should be given as well. The industrial partners have for their part experience of many years with CAx-systems and they are interested in a methodical proceeding with the use of these tools (Pro/ENGINEER, Pro/MECHANICA, CATIA V4, MSC. Patran/MSC.Marc).
