E 3 CHP-Systems and Renewable Energies

Within the next 20 years, the generation capacity of the existing power plant pool in Germany will decrease by about 40,000 MW from 120,000 MW to 80,000 MW. The future power plant pool will differ from the recent one particularly due to the increased share of electricity generated by decentralised CHP-systems and renewable energies, mainly wind power. The subproject E3 is analysing the energy-technical and economic parameters of recent and anticipated power plant technologies dependent on plant size and nature of application in the generation market. Based on stochastic load modulation and the statistic analysis of the residue load (anticipate load excluding anticipated generation power of existing power plants and increase feed-in by plants with fluctuating power) the potential future power plant pool is simulated and the technical requirements for new power plants are deduced.
