German-Israeli Water Technology Cooperation Program (Deadline: 19, August 2025)

As part of this year's German-Israeli Water Technology Cooperation, the German Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR) and the Israeli Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology (MOST) are funding bilateral research and development projects on innovations in water technology and water systems. 

 

The cooperation between the BMFTR and the MOST, which has existed since 1974, promotes German-Israeli cooperation projects in the fields of water technology and water systems with application-oriented foucs.The prerequisite for funding is close cooperation between at least one German and one Israeli research institution in one of the aforementioned subject areas. 

Aim of the German-Israeli water technology cooperation

  • Improve the water situation in Israel and the surrounding area and/or Germany. Transferability of the results to comparable regions should be guaranteed.
  • Access to new markets for Israeli and German companies in the water and environmental sector
  • Supporting and strengthening bilateral and multilateral cooperation in the water sector as well as cooperation between science and industry

Requirements and funding conditions: 

  • Consortia with at least one German and one Israeli Principal Investigator (PI) are eligible for funding.
  • Project duration of max. 3 years;
  • Eligible costs: personnel costs, travel costs, material costs;  

Application deadline

The application deadline for joint project applications is August 19, 2025. Israeli applicants must submit a preliminary project outline by August 12, 2025.
