‘GH2 Connect Bavaria-Kenya’ Excellence Lab: Promoting Kenyan-Bavarian Collaboration through Erasmus+ Opportunities

How can universities and research institutions from Bavaria and Kenya use Erasmus+ to develop joint international higher education projects? On 8 October 2026 the Bavarian Research Alliance (BayFOR) is organising an online Excellence Lab as part of the ‘GH2 Connect Bavaria-Kenya’ project. The event will focus on Erasmus+ funding opportunities, particularly Capacity Building in Higher Education (CBHE).

Bavarian-Kenyan collaboration through ‘GH2 Connect Bavaria-Kenya’

The event aims to provide stakeholders from Bavaria and Kenya with an understanding of the types of activities supported by CBHE and the roles that universities, companies and other partners can play within a consortium.

The English-language online workshop is aimed at staff from universities and research institutions in Bavaria and Kenya who are looking to establish or further develop international higher education cooperation and learn more about applying for Erasmus+ funding.

Erasmus+ Capacity Building in Higher Education: From funding opportunity to proposal

The Excellence Lab will focus on Erasmus+ Key Action 2 and, in particular, the Capacity Building in Higher Education (CBHE) funding strand. Participants will receive an introduction to CBHE funding opportunities and requirements and learn what to consider when developing an Erasmus+ project proposal.

In addition to an introduction to Erasmus+ CBHE, the programme will explore how to structure a compelling proposal and highlight key dos and don’ts to consider for successful project implementation.

As a European Union programme, Erasmus+ supports international cooperation in higher education, among other areas. Capacity Building in Higher Education can support activities such as the development of innovative curricula and teaching methods, stronger links between universities and business and industry, the establishment of innovation centres, the internationalisation of higher education institutions and continuing education and training activities.
