Excellence Lab: Boosting Research and Innovation Cooperation between Ethiopia and Bavaria in the energy sector

On 16 February 2022, the Kilimanjaro Innovation Hub (Ethiopia) and the Bavarian Research Alliance (Germany) will host the workshop "Excellence Lab: Boosting Research and Innovation Cooperation between Ethiopia and Bavaria in the energy sector". The event informs researchers, start-ups, companies and municipalities from Bavaria and Ethiopia about European funding opportunities for research and innovation and offers an ideal platform to meet potential international project partners and exchange concrete project ideas with a focus on sustainable, secure and competitive energy supply.

International cooperation with the Global South, especially Africa, is an important part of Horizon Europe, the EU's framework programme for research and innovation. The programme is embedded in the relevant policy framework of the European Commission, such as the joint Africa-EU strategy, with a focus on achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Our event is intended to be a practical complement to the side events on science and innovation that will take place in the framework of the AU-EU Summit (14-18 February 2022).
During the workshop, we will present ongoing energy projects with African and Bavarian stakeholders, explain the contents of the joint Africa-EU strategy and offer participants the opportunity to discuss current challenges in international scientific cooperation and their wishes for future cooperation.

Participants are also invited to briefly present their expertise and project ideas in relation to the Horizon Europe call HORIZON-CL5-2022-D3-02-02: AU-EU Energy System Modelling' (Deadline: 27 October 2022) '.
