BayIntAn - Promoting Cooperation
Bavarian funding programme for the initiation of international research collaborations
The BayIntAn cooperation funding programme supports the initiation of international research collaborations involving state and ecclesiastical Bavarian universities and universities of applied sciences as partners. The aim of this funding is to promote Bavaria as a location for science and innovation by further internationalising Bavarian university research.
The Bavarian Research Alliance selects the most suitable projects from the proposed collaborations - for which a maximum amount of 10,000 euros can be applied for - and provides funding on a pro rata basis depending on the available budget. Funding for the BayIntAn cooperation funding programme is provided by the Bavarian State Ministry of Sciences and the Arts.
The Bavarian University Centres also provide funding for specific regions. A list of these university centres and specific information can be found here.
Applications in BayIntAn can only be submitted via the online application tool OASys.
Next calls for applications for 2026
The new call for proposals from BayIntAn is now open. Deadline: 2 December 2025, 1 p.m.
Funded projects can be implemented from 1 January 2026.
Please note the following important information regarding the funding period and procedure:
- Funding period: 1 January to 31 July 2026
All funded projects and trips must be completed by 31 July 2026, at the latest.
Costs incurred after this date cannot be approved.
- Announcement of funding decisions:
The evaluation of the new call for proposals is expected to be completed by mid-January 2026. Results will then be announced from 26 January 2026 onwards. Unfortunately, no information on the status of the selection process can be provided before this date.
- Early project implementation:
If a project or trip begins before the evaluation is complete (i.e. between January and mid-January 2026), this is done at your own risk. In this case, approval cannot be guaranteed.
We ask all applicants to take this information into account when planning their projects.
Researchers at the University of Georgia in Athens (UGA) who are involved in a successful BayIntAn application can apply for additional funding from UGA.
