I1 - Identification of Key Positions in Virus-Specific Cellular Signaling as Markers for Therapy, Immunity and Diagnostics

Viruses are subject to various regulatory interactions with their host cells, in particular with cellular signaling cascades that are specifically reprogrammed by the process of viral replication (i.e. termed as virus-specific signaling, VSS). An identification and translational exploitation of such VSS patterns will be attempted on three levels: (i) development of novel antiviral therapies, (ii) elucidation of effectors of intrinsic immunity (iii) use in virus diagnostics. Thus, the investigations are mainly focused on the role regulatory signaling kinases to provide clearer insights into this aspect of virus-host interaction.
