FORMIKROSYS

TP 2 Drug delivery system

Field of work:

Mikrosystemtechnik

The project MEDOS is performed by the Fraunhofer Institute for Microelectronic Circuits and Systems, Munich, the Friedrich Alexander University of Erlangen-Nürnberg, the Visionet GmbH, Erlangen and the LRE Technology Partner GmbH, Munich. Aim of the project is the development of an innovative drug delivery system using silicon micromechanics, microelectronics and signal processing. A miniaturized and portable system will be realized based on the hybrid integration of conventional and micromechanical fluidic components. The system allows a wide range of different medical applications and improves the performance compared to conventional drug delivery systems regarding to a very small dosing volume, a high dosing accuracy and a significantly reduced system size and energy consumption.
