Today pathologic changes in the blood vessel system belong to the most frequent causes physical disturbances (heart attack, stroke etc.). Therefore it is very important for the medical diagnostic to registrate arteriosclerotic vessel stenosis. Imageproviding techniques for the representation of blood vessels are in general summerized under the generic term Angiography. The purpose of our project is to investigate the possibilities of knowledge- and modell-based methods in digital image processing and pattern recognition for the MR-Angiography in order to create a large MR-angiographical evaluation programm on SUN-Workstations. After the implementation of a prototype the system has been tested for clinical use in several hospitals in europe. Due to positive test results the algorithms will be integrated into a post-processing-tool of SCR (Siemens Corporate Research, Princeton, USA).
