COST Call 2026 – Open Call for proposals (Deadline: 28 October 2026)

The COST Call 2026 invites scientists from all disciplines to establish international and interdisciplinary collaborations. The aim is to provide new impulses for research and innovation through the exchange of knowledge and expertise and to establish sustainable networks in science and technology.

The European funding initiative COST (European Cooperation in Science and Technology) supports the development of so-called COST Actions – research networks that contribute to the scientific, technological, economic, social or cultural development of Europe. Institutions from 43 countries, including Germany and Israel, can participate in COST Actions.

Eligibility:

  • Objective: The project should contribute the development of Europe through the advancement of scientific, technological, economic, cultural or social knowledge.
  • Targeted fields: Project proposals from all scientific disciplines are welcome.
  • Interdisciplinarity: Multi- and interdisciplinary approaches are explicitly welcome
  • Consortium: The network must consist of at least seven partners from seven different COST member states – at least half of which should be from the Inclusiveness Target Countries (ITCs).
  • Participation: Applicants can either initiate a new COST Action or join an ongoing COST Action.

Project duration and budget:

The project duration is limited to a maximum of four years.

The average budget is approximately € 150,000 in the first year and € 180,000 in each of the following three years.

Status Israel:

Israel has the status of a cooperating member country. This means that Israeli researchers are fully entitled to participate in COST Actions, but Israel as a country does not have a vote in the COST Committee of Senior Officials (CSO).

Application deadline:

The application deadline is 28 October 2026.
