German-Israeli Water Technology Cooperation Program (Deadline: July 8, 2026)

Within the framework of the German-Israeli cooperation in Water Technology Research, the German Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR) and the Israeli Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology (MOST) are funding bilateral research and development projects on innovations in water technology and water systems.

 

Priority will be given to project proposals for innovations that demonstrate potential for practical application. The projects must be jointly prepared and carried out by the Israeli and German project participants.

Aims of the cooperation

  • Develop innovative solutions to water challenges in Israel and its surrounding region and/or Germany, with transferability to comparable regions
  • Catalyze industry adoption of cutting-edge water and environmental technologies
  • Support and strengthen bilateral and multilateral cooperation in the water sector as well as cooperation between science and industry

Requirements and funding conditions: 

  • Eligible for funding are consortia with at least one German and one Israeli principal investigator (PI)
  • Eligible costs: personnel costs, travel costs, material costs, equipment costs 

Duration:
Projects with a maximum duration of 3 years are eligible for funding

Application deadline

The application deadline for joint project proposals is July 8, 2026. Israeli applicants must also submit a preliminary project outline by July 1, 2026.
