TRANSCAN Call 2026: Translational Research on Cancer Metabolism (Deadline: July 21, 2026)

TRANSCAN-4 welcomes applications for its 1st Joint Transnational Call for research proposals (JTC2026) on the topic “Translational Research on Cancer Metabolism: Multidisciplinary Approaches for Diagnosis and Treatment”. The objective of the call is to foster new collaborations between researchers and clinicians and to support original, high-quality projects with strong translational potential.
 

Funded projects are expected to significantly advance the understanding and exploitation of #cancer metabolism in clinically relevant settings.

The anticipated outcome is the development of innovative, personalised approaches for cancer diagnosis, patient stratification, and treatment, grounded in a deeper mechanistic understanding of metabolic alterations in cancer. National and regional funding organisations from 15 countries are participating in the call, among them Germany and Israel. 

Eligibility: 

• Joint transnational research proposals may be submitted by applicants belonging to one of the following categories: academic research groups, clinical/public health sector research groups, research groups from enterprises

• Applicants are subject to the eligibility criteria of national/regional funding organisations

• Each research consortium must involve a minimum of three and a maximum of six partners eligible for funding, coming from at least three different countries whose funders participate in the call

• A consortium must not involve more than two research groups from the same country.

• The maximum number of partners can be increased up to seven if a consortium includes one partner from the following participating countries: Hungary, Malta, Slovakia and Turkiye

• It is mandatory to integrate at least one early-career researcher as principal investigator in a consortium

• Each consortium has to be represented by a coordinator

• Several of the participating national/regional funding organisations require an eligibility check before the pre-proposal submission 

Project duration: 

Up to 3 years

Application deadline:

The application procedure follows a two-stage submission procedure. The application deadline for pre-proposals is July 21, 2026. Pre-proposals will be evaluated by November 25, 2026. Successful consortia will then be invited to write a full proposal, which has to be submitted by January 13, 2027.
