Current Funding Opportunities: Bavaria-Québec

There are currently several funding programs and opportunities for cooperation available in the Bavaria-Québec partnership.

The following funding options are currently available:

  • The Fonds de recherche du Québec (FRQ) and the Bavarian State Ministry of Science and the Arts, in collaboration with the WKS Bavaria-Québec/Alberta/International within the Bavarian Research Alliance, are launching a new, forward-looking bilateral research program on AI-powered and human-centered robotics for real-world applications. More information can be found here. The complete call for proposals will be launched on September 22, 2026 (deadline for registration: October 13, 2026; deadline for application: November 16, 2026).
  • The regular Bavaria-Québec bilateral working group call for project proposals between the Ministère des Relations internationales et de la Francophonie du Québec (MRIF) and the Bavarian State Chancellery (StK) is open again for the 2026–2028 period. The call covers areas such as science, education, and culture. Interested applicants from Québec are invited to submit proposals together with their Bavarian partners. On the Québec side, proposals must be submitted by October 4, 2026. Applicants on both sides should verify their eligibility with the designated contacts. Points of contact are Dr. Florence Gauzy, WKS Bavaria-Québec/Alberta/International at BayFOR, for research projects and Ms. Julie Grill, Bavarian State Chancellery, for all other projects. More information can be found here (for Québec) and here (for Bavarian pertners).
  • The FRQ and the MRIF support the involvement of researchers from Québec in consortia under Pillar 2 of Horizon Europe, Cluster 1 (Health) and Cluster 4 (Aerospace). The WKS Bavaria-Québec/Alberta/International at BayFOR is involved in designing the program. More information on funding and the application process can be found here (in French).
