In a virtual meeting, Dr. Markus Blume, Bavarian State Minister of Science and the Arts, Prof. Jérôme Dupras, Chief Scientist of Québec, and Prof. Janice Bailey, Vice-President of Research at the Fonds de recherche du Québec (FRQ), signed the corresponding declaration.

In addition to extending the cooperation, a joint call for proposals was launched on AI-powered and human-centered robotics, with a focus on real-world applications.

The first joint funding initiative in the field of artificial intelligence, launched in 2021, supported three research projects. For the renewed three-year joint call, “AI-Powered and Human-Centered Robotics for Real-World Applications,” the Bavarian State Ministry of Science and the Arts and the Bavarian State Chancellery provide a total of €675,000 to fund up to three projects. The Fonds de recherche du Québec (FRQ) will contribute a similar amount of funding. On the Bavarian side, implementation of the program will be coordinated by the WKS Bavaria-Québec/Alberta/International at the Bavarian Research Alliance (BayFOR).
