News from the Scientific Coordination Office Bavaria-Israel

On March 24 and 25 2026, the Research Center RISK – Risk, Infrastructure, Security and Conflict at the University of the Bundeswehr Munich (the University of the Federal Armed Forces), in cooperation with the Scientific Coordination Office (WKS) Bavaria-Israel of the Bavarian Research Alliance (BayFOR), is hosting a Horizon Europe workshop including a matchmaking session. The event is aimed at experts from Bavaria, Israel, and other countries who would like to submit an application for projects in the Horizon Europe subject areas of Democratic Resilience and Disaster Preparedness. In addition to in-depth information and tips for a successful application, participants will have the opportunity to establish new collaborations with international partners.

From 9 – 10 February 2026, the Scientific Coordination Office Bavaria-Israel (WKS Bavaria-Israel) hosted a multinational workshop on sustainable energy use and supply at the headquarters of the Bavarian Research Alliance in Munich. The event was jointly organized by the WKS, the Office of the Free State of Bavaria in the United Kingdom, Innovate UK, which is part of UK Research and Innovation, and ISERD - Israel-Europe R&D Directorate. 
 

On 13 November 2025, the Scientific Coordination Office Bavaria-Israel of the Bavarian Research Alliance (BayFOR) and the Office of the Free State of Bavaria in the United Kingdom organize a joint workshop on “Sustainable, secure and competitive energy supply”. The workshop welcomes experts from Bavaria, the UK, Israel and others and will explore new cooperation and networking opportunities as well as providing comprehensive insights into preparing and submitting proposals for upcoming calls from the 2026 Horizon Europe work programme in the field of energy supply.

Research and innovation are central to the bilateral relations between Bavaria and Israel, which share a wide range of common scientific interests: health, energy, artificial intelligence, life science, foodtech, security and social science are just some of the topics that are subject of joint research collaborations. The Scholarship Program for Bavarian and Israeli Early Career Researchers 2025 is an initiative funded by the Bavarian Ministry of Science and the Arts to support the bilateral scientific cooperation already at a early stage.

On 17 July 2024 , the Scientific Coordination Office Bavaria-Israel of the Bavarian Research Alliance (BayFOR) and the Israel-Europe R&I Directorate (ISERD) organize a joint workshop series on 3 “Sustainable, secure and competitive energy supply” (Horizon Europe, Cluster 5, Destination 3). The event provides insight into selected topics, the application process of Horizon Europe proposals and offers a platform for partner search to start new research collaborations.

On June 24, 2024, the Scientific Coordination Office Bavaria-Israel of the Bavarian Research Alliance (BayFOR) and the Erasmus+ Office Israel are jointly inviting you to a digital information event on the upcoming Erasmus+ calls for proposals in the higher education. In addition to information about the individual funding programs, participants also have the opportunity to meet new cooperation partners for joint project proposals.
