Understanding virus-host cell interactions: research in the area of pathogenesis and of antiviral therapies
Viruses are obligate intracellular pathogens that exploit the cellular machinery for replication and spread within a human organism. Therefore detailed insights in the virus-host cell interactions and the molecular events and perturbations caused by SARS-CoV-2 in infected human cells are essential for the understanding of the pathogenesis of COVID-19 development of effective treatments.
