Family Life in Bavaria - Empirical Insights into Transformations, Resources and Negotiations

Cross-Cutting Topic: Transformations

The working group with the cross-cutting theme of "transformation processes" focuses on the many and varied changes both within the family and as a result of external influences such as labour market and ecological dynamics. The research takes into account interactions between families and social transformation processes, emphasises the complexity of these dynamics and highlights the tension between change and continuity. The group analyses different temporalities in families, which include conflict potentials, synchronisation needs and innovation impulses. The aim is to adequately describe the complexity of these transformation dynamics and to translate them in an understandable way for different contexts. Projects within the network are dedicated to specific aspects such as family complicity, wealth transfers, multicultural family law, family education for refugees, post-traditional family constellations and civic engagement for families in order to consider and understand different perspectives on transformation.
