I.4 Refinement of synthetic lenses

Because of their light weight and their fracture immunity synthetic lenses gained a high proportion in eyeglass markets. However they possess the drawback of low scratch and wipe resistance and therefore have to be protected against wearing by indelible coatings. Induration of the coatings is performed thermally as yet and consequently is time consuming and expensive.

Within the scope of this project materials and methods for developing such technology shall be gathered fistly for the german, later for the international market as well.
