Partnership Agreement between Bavarian Research Alliance and Innovation Authority of Israel

During a delegation trip to Israel, the Bavarian Minister of Science Bernd Sibler and 19 university representatives from all over Bavaria, the Bavarian Research Alliance and the Innovation Authority of Israel concluded a partnership agreement that focuses on close cooperation in the realisation of joint research projects, especially within the European research framework programmes.
"We are looking forward to intensifying our relations with Israel and in particular with the Innovation Authority, which also houses the Israel-Europe R&D Directorate (ISERD). This more intensive exchange and cooperation will certainly also be the starting point for new EU-funded research and innovation projects," says Martin Reichel, Managing Director of the Bavarian Research Alliance.
For example, ISERD and the Scientific Coordination Office Bavaria-Israel of BayFOR already hold a joint Bavarian-Israeli symposium every six months, which opens the way for new research collaborations for applicants from both sides and which is additionally supported by this agreement. In addition, the University of Regensburg and the Munich University of Applied Sciences signed a "Memorandum of Understanding" with the Ben Gurion University of the Negev in order to further intensify student exchanges between the two universities on this basis. "In this way, we are strengthening Bavaria as a research and science location and at the same time enabling young people to move on international terrain in the academic landscape - in our globalised world, this is of great importance. It's a win-win situation for everyone involved," said Science Minister Sibler.
At the end of his delegation trip to Israel, Science Minister Bernd Sibler draws a positive conclusion: With 19 university representatives from all over Bavaria, he departed last Sunday to seek dialogue with Israeli universities and scientists in Tel Aviv, Jerusalem and Haifa and to strengthen cooperation and exchange between Bavaria and Israel. The trip focused on the future topics of artificial intelligence and computer science. Science Minister Sibler emphasised: "International cooperation is fundamental and decisive for the further development of science and research. International networking is indispensable for the success of our Bavarian universities. The Free State of Bavaria and Israel are strong partners for finding answers to questions on artificial intelligence, digitalisation and computer science together. Critical dialogue and exchange is an essential prerequisite for maximising and responsibly exploiting the potential of new technologies for people."
