New funding opportunity: Mitacs Accelerate Global Excellence Award

The Mitacs Accelerate Global Excellence Award is a new funding opportunity for outstanding researchers to work on an industry-oriented research project at a Canadian university in collaboration with a partner.

The program aims to attract outstanding international research talent and Canadians (at postdoctoral level) who are currently studying abroad to participate in industrial research projects in collaboration with leading Canadian researchers—made possible by a funding package of 170,000 Canadian dollars over two years.

Postdoctoral researchers wishing to apply must currently reside outside Canada, and their doctoral degree must have been awarded no more than five years ago. Applications are accepted until May 1, 2026. More information about the funding program can be found here.

The Mitacs Accelerate Global Excellence Award complements the Canadian government’s efforts to attract top-tier researchers. This goal was most recently highlighted in the 2025 Canadian federal budget and in the “Canada Global Impact+ Research Talent Initiative.”
