The event focuses on selected topics from Horizon Europe 2026 | Cluster 5 | Destination 3 that aim to ensure a more sustainable, secure, and cost-effective energy system in Europe by fostering smart energy systems based on renewable energy. The focus lies on breakthrough R&I across renewables, energy systems and storage, grids, and carbon capture and utilisation (CCUS) to support the European Commission in reinforcing energy resilience, industrial competitiveness, and Europe’s transition to climate neutrality.
Participants are invited to join one out of four parallel breakout sessions, where they are invited to pitch their topic-related expertise (max. 3 minutes / max. 3 slides):
- Breakout Session 1: Novel solutions for off-grid storage of renewable energy for critical infrastructures (HORIZON-CL5-2026-03-D3-22)
- Breakout Session 2: Next-gen renewable energy technologies (HORIZON-CL5-2026-04-Two-Stage-D3-02)
- Breakout Session 3: Hybrid AI-Control Framework for a next-generation grid-scale energy storage and system integration (HORIZON-CL5-2026-03-D3-21)
- Breakout Session 4: AI-driven forecasting algorithms for Grid and Consumer friendly Energy Sharing – Societal Readiness pilot (HORIZON-CL5-2026-03-D3-23)
Please note: The online workshop is free of charge. To have a fruitful discussion during the breakout sessions, the number of pitch presentations is limited to max. 9 pitches per breakout session.
To make the workshop and matchmaking event as successful as possible and to ensure optimal results, participants are invited to two additional, complementary events:
