ERC Advanced Grant 2021: Applications now open

Are you an established, leading researcher seeking long-term funding for a groundbreaking, high-risk project? If so, you can now apply for the ERC Advanced Grant. Applicants for ERC Advanced Grants - called Principal Investigators (PI) - should be active researchers with significant research accomplishments over the past 10 years.

Principal Investigators should be exceptional leaders in terms of originality and significance of their research contributions. No specific eligibility criteria are provided in terms of academic requirements. Applications may be submitted in any research area. ERC grants operate on a bottom-up principle with no predetermined priorities.

Advanced Grants can fund projects up to €2.5 million for a period of 5 years. An additional €1 million can be made available to cover eligible "start-up" costs for researchers.

An ERC grant can cover up to 100% of the total eligible direct costs of the research, plus a contribution of 25% of the total eligible costs for indirect costs.

The deadline for applications is 31 August 2021.
