The European Commission is providing almost €1.3 billion for two multi-annual work programmes for the Digital Europe programme. The aim is to strengthen Europe's technological sovereignty and develop digital solutions for public administrations and businesses.

The main work programme, worth €909.5 million for the period 2023-2024, covers the implementation of projects that use digital technologies such as supercomputers, data, artificial intelligence, cloud and advanced digital skills.

Focus on cybersecurity

In addition to the main work programme, the EU Commission has published a work programme focusing on cybersecurity. It has been allocated €375 million for the period 2023-2024. The aim is to strengthen the EU's collective resilience against cyber threats. The programme will be implemented through the European Cyber Security Centre of Excellence.

Funding and timetable

The investments made through the calls under the work programmes will be almost double the EU funding, as most projects will be co-financed at 50 per cent. The first calls for the Digital Europe Work Programmes will be published this spring, with more to follow after the summer. They are aimed at businesses, public administrations and other institutions from EU Member States, EFTA/EEA countries and countries associated to the Digital Europe programme.

More information on the work programmes can be found here and more information on how to apply for funding can be found here.
