BayFIA's Bavarian Battery Congress 2025

The Bavarian Battery Congress 2025 will take place on 21 July 2025 in Nuremberg. It is set to be the central meeting place for the Bavarian battery industry. Now in its second year, the event will once again bring together leading figures from business, science, politics and research, with the aim of strengthening exchange, providing new impetus and identifying concrete opportunities for cooperation. BayFOR will present the EU's battery funding strategy, outline current Horizon Europe funding opportunities and provide an overview of advisory services available to applicants.


Focus: Transformation of the battery industry: research, funding and manufacturing

Demand for innovative battery systems is growing rapidly, whether for electric mobility, stationary energy storage, power tools or industrial applications. At the same time, however, the industry is facing geopolitical and industrial policy challenges. What direction is the new German government taking? How is the Free State of Bavaria positioning itself in the global arena? This congress provides a platform for debate, strategic planning and practical solutions.

A highlight:
A keynote speech by Hubert Aiwanger, the Bavarian State Minister for Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Energy, on 'Current signals for the battery industry'.

BayFOR on site: Making targeted use of EU funding

At the joint stand of the Bavarian Research and Innovation Agency (BayFIA), BayFOR will provide advice on European funding opportunities for battery projects. The following EU projects, which have received funding with the support of BayFOR, will be presented on site:

  • Twinvector – European competence pooling for the development of world-class next-generation batteries
  • SMHYLES – Development of novel salt- and water-based hybrid energy storage systems on an industrial scale

The BayFOR presentation, 'EU Funding: Process, Topics and Networking', will demonstrate how companies, research institutions and start-ups can successfully apply for EU research and development funding. The presentation will focus on programmes such as Horizon Europe, the Innovation Fund and the IPCEI Batteries initiative.
