The consortium of the EU project InShaPe cordially invites you to its final workshop on April 10, 2025, in Garching near Munich. Experience the Future of Additive Manufacturing: The InShaPe partners will present their research results and discuss in interactive workshops with experts from industry and academia the latest developments in laser-based additive manufacturing, such as innovative and advanced technologies for laser beam shaping and process monitoring. The highlights of the event will be the demonstrators from five industrial use cases, including the "Open Innovation Service" winner, Airbus, which will show the practical relevance of the technologies developed by InShaPe, and a Lab Tour through the AM Labs at TUM.

EU project InShaPe: The next innovation leap in metal-based additive manufacturing

Powder Bed Fusion of Metal using Laser Beams (PBF-LB/M) is an advanced manufacturing technology that addresses industrial challenges. Although ideal for producing complex components, it has so far been used in niche markets due to high operating costs. Up to 60% of production costs are caused by process errors and long processing times. In addition to the economic impact, these errors result in increased energy consumption and material waste.

Technological improvements are urgently needed to make PBF-LB/M more sustainable.

Over the past three years, the InShaPe project has developed a novel PBF-LB/M process based on two core innovations:

  1. An AI-driven laser beam shaping module
  2. An innovative process monitoring and control system for quality analysis

At the final workshop, the InShaPe consortium will present the key results of the project. The performance of the new methods developed by InShaPe will be demonstrated through use cases in areas such as aerospace, energy, and industrial goods.

Highlights of the InShaPe final workshop

  • Innovation in Action – Discover the latest advances in green additive manufacturing through demonstrators from five exciting use cases. Hear first-hand how leading companies are applying InShaPe technologies in practice.
  • Interactive Sessions – Exchange with leading scientists and experts on beam shaping and monitoring.
  • Poster Presentations – The poster session offers attendees the opportunity to interact with industry leaders.
  • Live Demonstrations - Witness the Innovations of the InShaPe project in action.
  • Networking with Experts – Exchange ideas with other participants on how scientific excellence is driving industrial progress.
