Europe Day 2026 in Munich: Experience Europe at the Europa*Rad in the Werksviertel

Now in its fifth year, this popular event invites Munich residents and visitors from the region to experience Europe up close.

Experience Europe in the heart of Munich

With around 50 pro-European organisations, institutions and associations, the Europa*Rad is one of the central events of Munich’s Europe May 2026 – featuring free rides on the Umadum Ferris wheel, exciting activities and interactive formats:

• Discussions on current challenges facing the European Union
• Insights into visions for the future and innovations in Europe
• Cultural exchange with European twin towns
• Live music, activities for children and hands-on activities

BayFOR on site: discover EU projects interactively

The Bavarian Research Alliance (BayFOR) will be present at Europe Day 2026 in Munich with an interactive experience. The aim is to present EU-funded research and innovation projects from Munich and Bavaria to the public in a clear and accessible way.

An experience in the BayFOR gondola: get involved in EU research

During the ride on the Ferris wheel, participants can look forward to interactive puzzle challenges relating to EU projects. Each puzzle depicts a specific EU project. The more puzzles solved during the ride, the higher the chance of winning.

Competition at the BayFOR stand

In addition, a wheel of fortune with quiz questions on EU projects at the BayFOR stand invites visitors to take part. Here, visitors can test their knowledge and win attractive prizes.

These EU projects will be presented

The projects on display showcase the diversity of European research – with a strong connection to Munich and the surrounding area:

• STAAART – New therapy for early-stage abdominal aortic aneurysms
• CirCoFin – Cities as a driving force for sustainable construction
• BIOARC – Sustainable construction using local raw materials
• SeaClear 2 – Autonomous robots clean the seabed
• ArtPlac – Artificial placenta for premature babies
• CIRCOTRONIC – Improving Circularity in Electrical and Electronic Equipment
• Orbem Genus – Technology breakthrough using AI in chicken egg sexing
• ClimTip – Quantifying climate tipping points and their impacts
