Global Health EDCTP3: Strengthening Africa-Europe cooperation
Global Health EDCTP3 significantly promotes cooperation between Africa and Europe in the areas of global health, clinical research and health innovation. As a key instrument of European research and innovation policy, the programme makes an important contribution to the implementation of the AU-EU Innovation Agenda.
New EDCTP3 calls for proposals in 2026
The online event will focuses on EDCTP3 funding opportunities for research and innovation projects in sub-Saharan Africa. The following calls for proposal will be presented:
- Global collaboration action for the development of TB drugs for therapy and chemoprophylaxis in adults and children in sub-Saharan Africa
- Global collaboration action for prevention and treatment of lower respiratory tract infections (LRTIs) in sub-Saharan Africa
- Global collaboration action towards better prevention, treatment and clinical management of HIV co-infections or co-morbidities in sub-Saharan Africa
- Global collaboration action on climate and health in sub-Saharan Africa.
In addition, two coordination and support actions (CSAs) will be presented to strengthen capacity building in ethics, regulation and pharmacovigilance as well as promote integrated healthcare through digital innovations and artificial intelligence.
Target group and added value
This workshop is intended for researchers, scientific institutions, start-ups, companies, NGOs and public institutions in Bavaria, Europe and Africa that intend to submit an application for the Global Health EDCTP3 funding call 2026.
The event aims to initiate new collaborations. It is suitable for both experienced applicants looking to expand their existing consortia, as well as new entrants looking to contribute their technical expertise to ongoing or planned projects.
Programme & participation
Participants will receive a structured overview of:
- the current EDCTP3 calls for proposals,
- the formal requirements for submitting an application,
- and the application and advisory services offered by the Scientific Coordination Office Bavaria-Africa of BayFOR.
All participants are also invited to give a brief presentation on their area of expertise and, if they have one, a specific project idea.
Expressions of interest for pitch contributions can be submitted until 19 January 2026 using the provided template.

Participants wishing to give a short presentation are requested to send their presentation to bayern-afrika@no-spam-pleasebayfor.org after completing the registration form, and by Monday, 19 January 2026 at the latest.
