Excellence Lab Bavaria-Africa: Horizon Europe Funding Opportunity 'GenAI for Africa'

International cooperation with the Global South, especially Africa, is an important part of Horizon Europe, the EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation. The programme is embedded in the relevant policy framework and the current objectives of the European Commission, such as the AU-EU Innovation Agenda.

Horizon Europe Funding Opportunity "GenAI for Africa"

The event will focus on a specific Horizon Europe funding opportunity that encourages African-European cooperation in the area of generative Artificial Intelligence. The call topic “HORIZON-CL4-2025-04-HUMAN-08 – GenAI for Africa” seeks projects in the area of:
* Agriculture optimisation
* Healthcare
* Infrastructure and urban planning
* Digital skills and learning,
to contribute in creating an ecosystem of transformative solutions in Africa and practical applications addressing the specific societal challenges and opportunities most of the countries are facing.

This workshop is aimed at researchers, start-ups, NGOs, companies and public institutions from Bavaria, Europe and Africa who would like to apply for the current call for proposals “GenAI for Africa” and who may be looking for additional partners. The basic approach to this call will be presented and details to be considered when applying will be highlighted. 

Participants are invited to briefly present their expertise and, if applicable, concrete project ideas that could be submitted to the Horizon Europe call topic mentioned above.

Submission of matchmaking pitch presentations

Participants who wish to give a short presentation are requested to send their presentation (after filling in the registration form) to bayern-afrika@no-spam-pleasebayfor.org by Thursday, June 5, 2025 at the latest.

Please use this Powerpoint-Template. Please note that each presentation should comprise a maximum of 3 slides (= maximum 5 minutes of speaking time). Details on the required content and format of the presentation can be found in the template.

If more presentations are submitted than time slots are available, the organiser reserves the right to disregard certain presentations.
