Excellence Lab Bavaria - Africa: Research and Innovation in the Environmental Sector
It also provides an ideal platform to meet potential international project partners and exchange concrete project ideas with a focus on sustainable land use and energy supply.
International cooperation with the Global South, especially Africa, is an important part of Horizon Europe, the EU's Framework Programme for Research and Innovation. The programme is embedded in the relevant policy framework of the European Commission, such as the Joint Africa-EU Strategy, and focuses on achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
The first part of the event will present three specific Horizon Europe calls that explicitly call for international cooperation with Africa:
- Accelerating the green transition and energy access in Africa
- EU-AU cooperation on agroforestry management for climate change adaptation and mitigation
- EU-African Union – towards climate-neutral, social just fair trade food systems
On the basis of these three calls for proposals, the basic approach to such calls for proposals will be presented and what applicants must pay attention to specifically when applying.
Participants are also invited to present their expertise and project ideas on the above-mentioned Horizon Europe calls in breakout groups.
