Workshop „Advances in Photovoltaics and Photocatalysis“ in Munich

21/07/2011
Bavarian Research Alliance and european research project Largecells

On July 21-22, 2011 the TUM Institute for Advanced Study and the TUM Institute for Nanoelectronics organise with the University of Rome Tor Vergata a workshop about advances in photovoltaics and photocatalysis. During the conference, BayFOR’s Dr. Panteleïmon Panagiotou will report about the EU research project LARGECELLS, which develops a new generation of organic and hybrid solar cells.

Among all alternative energy sources, sunlight is the most abundant and cleanest one. Currently, scientists try to raise the efficiency and to reduce the costs of energy conversion systems. The workshop concentrates on two alternatives of energy conversion, photovoltaics and photocatalysis. During the conference, BayFOR’s Dr. Panteleïmon Panagiotou will report about the EU research project LARGECELLS. LARGECELLS wants to increase the energy efficiency of organic solar cells, to improve their long-term stability and to reduce their production costs. The project is funded with 1.64 million euro by the European Commission.
