Workshop “Smart Specialisation Cooperation in Central Europe”
Smart Specialisation stands for priority areas of competitive strengths defined for certain countries or regions, solving major societal challenges. The event aims to contribute to better networking in the seven Technology Priority Areas (TPA) in the context of Smart Specialisation: energy and environment, agro- and bio-economy, public health, medicine and life sciences, advanced materials and nanotechnology, advanced manufacturing systems, transport and mobility, ICT and electronics.
The two-day workshop is organized by the European Commission, Directorate-General for Regional and Urban Policy (DG REGIO) in cooperation with the Joint Research Centre (DG JRC-S3 Platform) and the ministries responsible for Smart Specialisation in Croatia. National and regional managing authorities, experts dealing with Smart Specialisation Strategies as well as representatives from businesses, universities and research centres willing to cooperate in the highlighted Technology Priority Areas are invited to join the workshop.
The event should result in initializing several working parties to be led by leading organizations for the identified TPAs or sub-areas. It may also result in concrete ideas regarding governance and working arrangements that would allow regions to collectively activate the proposed partnerships and encourage partner regions to focus on jointly-funded pilots and demonstration projects. The Bavarian Research Alliance will actively take part in the discussions on the Technology Priority Areas.
