BayFOR at the first AU-EU Innovation Festival in Cape Town, South Africa

On Thursday 15 June 2023, the first AU-EU Innovation Festival will take place in South Africa. The event is organized by the African Union, the European Union and the Republic of South Africa. The Scientific Coordination Office Bavaria-Africa will be present with an exhibition stand and will provide information on the services of BayFOR for EU funding of research and innovation cooperation between African and Bavarian universities, research institutions and SMEs.

The event is an ideal platform to meet potential international project partners and to exchange concrete project ideas.The first AU-EU Innovation Festival is a one-day launch event for the implementation phase of the newly adopted AU-EU Innovation Agenda and is held digital and on the ground in Cape Town, South Africa. It builds on the AU-EU Innovation Agenda Stakeholder Event in Nairobi in November 2022. The event will target public sector, NGO and civil society representatives, investors, businesses and innovation stakeholders from across Africa and Europe. 

In parallel, two Agora sessions will be held on "Youth" and "Women" in the research and innovation landscape. In addition, research and innovation actors will give pitch presentations on the four priority areas of the AU-EU Research and Innovation Cooperation Agenda:

  • Public Health
  • Green Transition
  • Innovation & Technology
  • Capacities for Science
