Conference “Science for Impact in Africa: Bridging the Gap between Academia and Societal Needs in Agri-Food Systems”
The goal of the event is to bridge the gap between scientific expertise on agricultural food production and concrete social needs at the local level. There will be a discussion of the best practices in teaching, research and community extension in agri-food systems.
The conference will focus on four themes:
• the agriculture value chains and agribusiness
• Europe-Africa collaboration
• intra-Africa collaboration
• local impact
The following institutions are involved in the event:
• Cape Peninsula University of Technology, South Africa
• Université de Gabès, Tunisia
• Université du Sine Saloum El-Hâdj Ibrahima NIASS, Senegal
• Wageningen University, the Netherlands
• Wollo University, Ethiopia
The conference will serve as a platform to explore ways of conducting research and teaching activities as well as science-driven entrepreneurship that create real impact on African local communities through Europe-Africa and intra-Africa collaborations. BayFOR provides information on suitable funding opportunities for research and innovation projects in the agri-food thematic context under the EU's Framework Programme for Research and Innovation Horizon Europe.
