Delegation trip to Chile

19/10/2019
Santiago de Chile

Santiago de Chile. From 19th to 25th October 2019, the Bavarian Research Alliance (BayFOR) will take part in a delegation trip of the Bavarian State Ministry of Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Energy. The tour focuses on water and wastewater technologies, measurement technology, water recycling, infrastructure, environmental technology and engineering. The BayFOR will present EU funding opportunities for research and innovation projects and strengthen the networks between Bavarian and Chilean stakeholders.

Numerous stakeholders from large companies, SMEs, universities and research institutions in Bavaria will accompany the delegation. In addition to talks with representatives of the Ministry of the Environment and economic associations, the focus of the trip will be on network formats in which contact with Chilean partners can be intensified. Accompanying lectures on both sides will provide an insight into the strengths and needs of both sides. A visit to a water treatment plant and a salmon farm will illustrate Chilean approaches to wastewater treatment and water use.

Chile is one of Bavaria's most important economic partners in Latin America. The trade volume between Bavaria and Chile amounted to a total of 396 million euros in 2017, more than 500 Bavarian companies maintain economic relations with the economically and politically stable country with 18 million inhabitants. Since 2013, Bavaria has been represented in Chile by its State of Bavaria Representative Office in order to intensify trade relations. And as recently as February 2019 that Chile once again strengthened its presence in Bavaria, Germany and the EU with the opening of its new commercial agency in Munich. The agency is run by ProChile - the export promotion agency of the Chilean government. The delegation trip of the State Ministry of Economics, Regional Development and Energy will not only focus on Bavarian-Chilean relations, but also on European-Chilean relations. As Chile has signalled a special interest in scientific and research cooperation, Dr Thomas Ammerl from BayFOR will also accompany the delegation to inform about EU funding opportunities for research and innovation projects with Chilean participation. As part of the EU Commission's "Open to the world Strategy", non-EU countries are also to be integrated into European research projects. With the strategic participation of international partners in application consortia, it will be possible to increase the funding opportunities for project applications and pave the way for successful knowledge and technology transfer.

For interested parties, who would like to establish contacts with Chilean stakeholders in science and industry in order to successfully launch a research project, BayFOR offers the service of transmitting information and contact data or searching for suitable cooperation partners. We offer stakeholders who have already made progress in the planning of their research project with Chilean stakeholders - or who have an initial idea for a cooperation - to complete a project outline and send it to the e-mail address ammerl@no-spam-pleasebayfor.org  by 16th October 2019.
