SUSTAINABLE PRINTED ELECTRONICS (SPE) 2025: International Conference on Sustainable Printed Electronics

Focus on sustainability and the circular economy in the electronics industry
Printed electronics (PE) is a key technology in application areas such as flexible displays, wearables, energy harvesting, smart labels and consumer electronics.
Given that less than 40% of electronic waste is recycled in the EU, there is a growing focus on developing sustainable PE solutions based on bio-based, recyclable and biodegradable materials.
SPE 2025 highlights current technological breakthroughs, sustainable manufacturing processes, new material combinations (e.g. nanoparticles, conductive polymers, carbon dots) and recycling and reuse strategies for electronic components. In addition, the integration of SSbD principles (Safe and Sustainable by Design) and the implementation of the circular economy in the electronics industry will be in the spotlight.
Conference programme
The scientific programme is divided into six thematic sessions:
- Printed electronics & manufacturing technologies
- Advanced materials for PE
- Sustainable ink formulations
- Recycling methods for printed electronics
- Sustainability assessment, SSbD & market development
- Applications: flexible & stretchable electronic devices
The EU project Sustain-a-Print (SaP), funded under Horizon Europe, addresses the urgent need for sustainable solutions in the electronics industry. In line with the EU Action Plan for the Circular Economy, SaP aims to reduce the environmental impact of electronics manufacturing and waste through innovative printed electronics (PE). SaP was created with support from BayFOR through the EU project LEE-BED, which was supported by BayFOR in the application process.
