UAS4EUROPE Networking Conference 2023 - "Halfway to the Horizon: Universities of Applied Sciences on the right track?"
Universities of Applied Sciences (UAS), due to their regional roots and close links with industry, public authorities and citizens, are key players in the search for solutions and the implementation of the EU's ambitions to become a climate-neutral, resilient and technologically sovereign global player.
Horizon Europe is the largest funding programme for research and innovation and as such an important source of funding for UAS. Having emerged in the DACH region in the second half of the 20th century, UAS are comparatively young. Nevertheless, international collaborative research is at the heart of these institutions to find cutting-edge solutions to challenges in their regions and beyond.
As a considerable part of the Horizon Europe budget is available for application-oriented research, the 9th EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation holds great potential for UAS. Therefore, we would like to use our 3rd Networking Conference to take a mid-term stock of Horizon Europe from the perspective of applied sciences.
The conference will be structured in two parts. On 22 May 2023, we will start with policy discussions and aim to discuss Horizon Europe with high-level policy makers and industry representatives. The following day, 23 May 2023, will be dedicated to interactive workshops where individual parts of Horizon Europe's programme will be discussed in detail. The aim of the conference is to network European applied science stakeholders and provide informed input to the Horizon Europe interim evaluation.
