Building the future 2020 - boosting innovation in the construction industry (online event)
Energy efficiency in buildings is a major global challenge. Buildings and their construction account for 36 percent of global energy use and 39 percent of energy-related carbon dioxide emissions annually. All over the world, innovative projects try to tackle these issues by developing new building materials and solutions for the future.
“Building the future 2020” invites stakeholders from the building industry, academia and decision-makers to get valuable insights into developments in the building sector that go beyond state-of-the-art. The half-day session features several innovation-driven projects and start-ups working on solutions for tomorrow. Confirmed speakers include representatives from the European Commission, the Oxford Brookes University (UK), the companies Va-Q-Tec, KEWAZO and HOREICH as well as research enablers like Fraunhofer IVV. The event is hosted by BayFOR in collaboration with the Forschungsinstitut für Wärmeschutz (FIW) and the Network for Solid Construction Bavaria.
The event also marks the end of the EU project INNOVIP (“Innovative multi-functional Vacuum-Insulation-Panels (VIPs) for use in the building sector”), which will present its findings. Over the last three years, the project partners have worked on effective insulation systems in buildings, which are key to optimizing their energy performance. INNOVIP has received funding from the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under GA No. 723441.
