For the next Science Café of 2026, we are pleased to welcome Dr.-Ing. Matthias Welzl, University of Bayreuth. Building on the German-Canadian project HYER Dr. Welzl will outline perspectives for further academic and business cooperation toward clean energy.

Regional innovation support: Webinar series on the international Cascade Calls of the EU project SYSTEMEU
As a partner in the European project SYSTEMEU, BayFOR is driving forward networking between Bavarian innovation drivers and international partners in four other European regions: Norte (PT), Castilla y León (ES), Tuzla Canton (BA) and North-West (RO). Together with the SYSTEMEU partners, it is organising information sessions from March to July 2026 on the Cascade Call “Financial Support to Third Parties” (FSTP) – a call for interregional collaborative projects in the field of digitalisation within the health, mobility and energy sectors. The call is scheduled to be published in early June.

Funding at a Glance | Security Edition: EDF & Horizon
The European Union is investing heavily in innovation for defence and civil security. However, not every programme works in the same way. In this webinar on 5 May 2026, you will gain an overview of the European Defence Fund (EDF) and Horizon Europe (Cluster 3 – civil security research) funding programmes, and learn how the programmes are structured and what their key priorities are. In addition, the Bavarian Research Alliance (BayFOR) will present its service portfolio for Bavarian stakeholders and demonstrate how companies and research institutions are supported in submitting successful applications.

Delegation of Bavarian venture capitalists and start-ups to Athens: Panathēnea 2026
From May 27 to 29, 2026, the Bavarian Research Alliance (BayFOR) and the German-Greek Chamber of Industry and Commerce (AHK) are inviting Bavarian venture capital companies and start-ups to a three-day business delegation to Athens. The delegation trip is taking place as part of Panathēnea 2026, an international innovation event that brings together technology, art, and start-ups.
